Four Never Changes - Episode 2: Get to the CoD-pter

Well, this certainly was a lonely stream. Granted, it's not something I'm not used to at this point, but considering Dari's internet outage, I kind of lost whatever default audience interaction I had for this one. But truth be told, I'm not sure how much having anyone else around would've helped on this stream. But it definitely would've made things more entertaining for me.
I wasn't expecting the iconic scene in Modern Warfare where your character literally dies in a nuclear attack to happen this early in the game. Like, I'd always been led to believe that that's just how the game ends. So I was definitely caught off-guard by it. That being said, I'm going to be curious if my next game handles similar subject matter better... because honestly, despite just how much I've been ragging on the game's political commentary the entire time -- seriously, the Arab enemies literally sound like they were voiced by extras from Team America: World Police -- I still think Sgt. Jackson's last moments were handled fairly well, especially given CoD's reputation.
Despite sleeping through this stream, KI managed to help me come up with a title for this one, based on one of my major hurdles from this particular session. The ironic part -- and I only realized this as I was drifting off to sleep after our usual post-stream call -- was that it's actually way more fitting than I let them know. I was running to *a lot* of helicopters during this session, to the point where the vast majority of what I played tonight ended with that little setpiece... and a few missions even involved me running to *multiple* choppers.
It's funny. I actually enjoyed the stealth sequence during Cpt. Price's flashback -- even if my itchy trigger finger got myself killed a few too many times. But the escape sequence at the end of it was an absolute nightmare. Modern Warfare's gameplay loop appears to involve a lot of shooting and hiding. I'm beginning to understand why Doom 2016 was considered so revolutionary at the time. But this game is clearly at its weakest whenever it tries to escape its gameplay loop. Case in point: I absolutely despised the last stand then-Lt. Price and his commanding officer were forced to make while waiting for their evac to arrive. It was... aggravating, to put it mildly.
Apparently, I've only got five missions left for my next session. I'm hoping to finish the game with that one. Supposedly, there's also a 19th bonus mission... but apparently it's supposed to be a pain in the ass to clear. I might check it out once I finish the main campaign, but I'm not going to make any promises about beating it. I'm also a bit curious about the next mission. It's titled "Sins of the Father". Makes me wonder if our informant Nikolai is going to end up being a double agent -- working for the man Sgt. Price failed to kill all those years ago.
We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?
