Freeciv is a free and open source 4X strategy game inspired by Sid Meier's classics Civilization and Civilization II. It includes a ton of features like 126 player matches (human and AI), internet and LAN multiplayer, customizable rule sets, sprite and sound packs and a 3D-enabled Web client.
The game is in active development since 1996 and downloads for Windows, macOS and Linux are available at it's homepage here https://www.freeciv.org/
