Have you been singing “Let It Go” nonstop since last year? Do you edge Olaf jokes into normal conversation? Have you reposted inspiring quotes and funny memes from Elsa? Well, good news for you Frozen fans, a new short and song for you to bother your friends with is coming from your favorite icy crew in 2015! Disney announced today that they can’t “Let It Go” and will be releasing a new short titled Frozen Fever, starring Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf on March 13th 2015 as a mini-feature that will play before the new live-action Cinderella movie. The length of the short is unknown at this time, but if we use the Disney/Pixar mold of shorts before films as an example, we can expect a solid three to four minute outing with the Snow Queen and friends. As for what exactly Frozen Fever will be about, the story will focus on Elsa and Krisoff determined to give Anna the best birthday celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk. Sounds like the perfect setup for a quick peek at our favorite Frozen characters since we last left them. A new song is also promised from the same songwriting duo that gave us those catchy songs from the film, Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. Considering it looks like we won’t be seeing a Frozen sequel anytime soon, this sounds like the perfect way for fans to get their fix. We told you earlier this week that Idina Menzel had said a sequel was in the works, but later backtracked on her statement, saying she was just speculating, assuming Disney was cooking up a new script based on the crazed fanbase and the $1.2 billion worldwide box office success of the film. What we do know for sure is in the works is a Broadway adaptation of Frozen, because, why not? It has tons of catchy tunes and could easily be turned into a grand production of Lion King proportions. But any information beyond “it’s in the works” is unknown at this time. How do you guys feel about the new short coming out? Were you going to be buying tickets for Cinderella anyway or do you have to now just so you can catch up with Elsa and crew and get yourself a new tune as well? Let us know in the comments and if you just can’t contain yourself waiting for the short or a Frozen sequel announcement, you can click here to find out which animated sequels we think are the best.
