READ THE UPDATES BELOW. -I've been going through a journey to improve the amount of knowledge I can share with you, on this channel, and this video shows and discusses some of that. It also takes a look at how much the FX 6300 has potential to bottleneck a GTX 1070. Hopefully, you enjoy it.

Note: To be more clear- This is part one, in a series, where I explore the performance potential. I will be trying to see just how much I can get out of this $99 processor. Read the updates below, to see where I am so far. I am hopeful that I can wring a good experience out of this processor, and I will be updating this info box and recording more videos, as I go along. So far, the experience has not been fantastic, but it could be argued that it's workable. Read the updates to see how I feel about recommending the FX 6300, though.

**Update:
1. I got a new Asus Aura 970 motherboard. With the Hyper 212 Evo cooler, I could only get up to a 4.3Ghz stable overclock, and even that is pushing it, heat wise.

So how did the new motherboard go? Honestly, games performed just a little bit better. It wasn't tremendous. I will probably need to try a better CPU cooler, but then we start compromising the money saving promises of choosing the FX 6300 platform. I will update you guys, when I get better overclocking results.

2. On the subject of overclocking.... I have followed the top rated and search ranked overclocking guides on YouTube, but maybe I am still doing something wrong. It is possible that I am not properly overclocking this computer. With that said... Many FX 6300 owners have told me they've had similar results. Maybe they've followed the same overclocking guides, though. Who knows...?

3. The new motherboard doesn't seem to give me any more frames per second than the cheap motherboard, used in this video. But as I've said above, I am open minded enough to admit that maybe I have improperly overclocked the computer. (or maybe I have not) As I stated many times, in this video, I am new to AMD CPU's. Also... To be honest, there just seems to be more information, on the web for overclocking i5's and i7's than there are for this CPU.

4. People have asked why my CPU cores are not reaching 100%, in this video. Truthfully, again.... I am too new to AMD to know for sure what is going on. People have said they have the same frame rates I'm getting, with this combination, so take that for what you will.

5. Anyone thinking I'm trying to make AMD look bad has not watched this whole video. If you think I'm trying to make AMD look bad, then watch the whole video. It is clear that I am not. If you listen to everything I say, it is pretty clear that I have no intention to make AMD look bad.

6. Conventional wisdom says that an i3, from Intel, or an FX 8350, from AMD, would be better choices for a gaming PC. That is a sentiment that is echoed countless times, on the Internet. The question is: Would I recommend a FX 6300, despite what conventional wisdom says? Well... I got this CPU *AND* motherboard for less than $160. With that in mind, I would consider the FX 6300 for a very compromised, but "bottom dollar" PC build, where the goal is to spend as little money as possible, even though there is real potential for bottlenecks. But do I actually RECOMMEND it? As of right now, I am still testing to see just how much I can milk from this processor. I wouldn't really recommend it, but for the $99 I paid for it, I would consider it for a "cheapest possible" computer build. (again, knowing that it might not really hit 60fps gaming, in a lot of titles... it would have to be a "realize that you are getting a compromised experience" type of build) But keep in mind... You should be able to use an AM3+ motherboard with a higher grade CPU, down the road, if you want to get the cheapest possible computer built, to get you started. With that said... I am not recommending the FX 6300. I don't know enough about it yet. But I would like to see how far I could push it in a "cheapest possible PC" build.
