3 Para is midway through their third tour of Helmand. They helped establish Camp Bastion back in 2006. The surge of US forces since then leaves today's Paras operating in a much smaller area, responsible for northern Nad-e-Ali district. That is where they are trying novel ways of winning over the local population. For the first time they're deploying specially trained female soldiers to try and gain the confidence of women, an important part of the community previously completely closed off. Forces News reporter Geoff Meade has been on patrol with the Paras and talks exclusively to the British officer whose mission is to get behind the burka.
