The Lord of Blades was a figure that eventually led me back to tabletop games.
I remember seeing the Wayne Reynolds artwork on a book cover or something, and being a long time mecha fan it blew my mind that there were fantasy mecha running around in D&D at the time. I'd been away from the tabletop world at that point for many years, having burned through almost the entirety of the PS1's English RPG library (along with a healthy dose of Japanese games) and needed something different to pass the time away.
Then the prepainted minis started releasing and when the Lord of Blades arrived in Blood War, I knew I had to get him (along with the Horned Devil).
Eventually I got him but tired of the sloppy paint jobs and bendy weapons. I craved the olden days of my youth and ended up where we are right now.
Enter this modern version!
Much like the recent Arkhan the Cruel that GF9 put out, this is a single piece resin model. There's no real construction to speak of, unless you're clumsy like me and manage to break it upon purchase or something equally ridiculous. A little flash needed to be cleaned off, but that's about it. He's good to go out of the box!
I wish he was just a *little* more elaborate. Something about the model seems plain compared to the rocking WAR art. Then again not many models can compare well to his art. It's a tough act to follow. This guy is definitely not a bad model though!
