A quick gameplay video of the modern version of the Game & Watch adaptation of Donkey Kong on hard mode in Game & Watch Gallery 2 for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.

Donkey Kong, the Game & Watch, is based on the arcade game of the same name. In it, Mario must avoid barrels to climb up to the top and save the girl, Pauline in the classic version and Peach in the modern version, from DK's clutches.

In the modern version, Mario will gradually destroy DK's platform as he reaches the top of the stage. Once DK's platform is destroyed, Mario will move on to the next stage. There are three stages in total, the first being a factory, the second a jungle and the third in the clouds. After completing the third stage, the game will return to the first and start the process over.

Along with barrels, Mario will also have to dodge Koopa Paratroopas that fly into the level as the score gets higher. Stomping the Paratroopas from above works as expected, reverting the Paratroopa into a normal Koopa which can be stomped again into its shell and kicked away. It is possible, and considerably easier, to achieve a high score by simply stomping the Koopas and dodging the barrels, instead of trying to save the Princess.
