GameFaceDUO - Let's Play Elebits - Part 2 - Much Elebits
Let's Play Elebits! Part 1. An interesting, cute Wii launch title that I've been meaning to give a try. Lin and Max are going to play through the first few levels :) Here are our first impressions!
In the game, you play stages and levels that take place in a space (like your bedroom, or a street), and you need to find Elebits hidden throughout the level. You have a Capture Gun that you control with your Wii mote. It works a lot like the Gravity Gun from Half-Life 2. You use it to move & interact with objects. You'll find elebits, and capture them using this method. The more you catch, the more power you collect. You'll then be able to interact with more object, and reach new rooms. You will also run into items like the Elebit Cookie, which lures out Elebits.
My mini Elebits review: The game has a really pretty art style that reminds me of a mix of a Studio Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki Movie, and Katamari Damacy. I like it a lot. There's definitely a little Pikmin influence in there as well.
The gameplay is simple and fun. As it was a launch title for the Wii, it was a cool piece to show off the new Wii Motion Controls, and the physics based gameplay is pretty funny. Gameplay can be a little slow, but ultimately it's a pleasant experience. I enjoy using the Gravity Gun to make a huge mess everywhere I go. I don't really like the missions that have you try not to break anything.
Ultimately, a very cute and fun game!
Elebits known in PAL territories as Eledees, is an action/first person shooter game developed by Konami Digital Entertainment and published by Konami for the Wii. There's another Elebits game called Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero for the Nintendo DS. I haven't played it.
Elebits are small creatures that coexist with humans and are the world's source of electric energy, powering all machines and appliances. Kai hates Elebits because his parents research them or something. He's upset because they spend more time with Elebits than they do with him.
