In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, I'll be using Gargoyle with a hybrid Ability Spam Items meets Crit Items build! Gargoyle gets a lot of heat from the Skul community, for good and bad reasons. The thing I agree with people on about old Gargoyle here is he definitely could use a rework. His ice physics are annoying, he has exactly one good skill and three mediocre ones, and his gimmick of staying in the air is clunky and hard to work around. That said, I still advocate for Gargoyle and his viability for two mains reasons: One, he's good at the most important archetypes in the game, like Ability Spam Items and Crit Items, and two, his skill Petrify and his swap. Petrify is a skill that when cast puts Gargoyle into an invulnerable state for up to two seconds, and if you move you can break it early which heavily benefits the player, and his swap works quite similarly to Petrify giving him similar amounts of i-frames. This is fantastic for dodging problematic attacks for free, and at legendary Petrify even applies slowness, which in fairness is both a blessing and a curse depending on how you utilize it. Either way, this alone is enough to make Gargoyle worth learning, and once you master Gargoyle all the movement issues come second nature to you. Since I mentioned it earlier, why not go all in on both of the strongest archetypes together? Crit Items AND Ability Spam Items! So, that's today's run. Joined by Bomber, can Bomber's swap generation combined with Gargoyle's i-frame generation get us through this end game gauntlet?
