In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, I'll be using Champion with a Strike focused strategy! Champion I've ranted on plenty, he's bad. He's clunky, he's slow to build up, and on a fundamental level his mechanics need reworking. Everyone in the Skul community is pretty much in agreement on this, Champion needs help. However, this doesn't make Champion unusable; he's still in this extremely well balanced game. Champion with the right build and in the right hands can still perform adequately, and today we aim for just that: adequacy, for today's build is a Strike build. Strike is one of the least consistent ways to build Skul runs, for a number of reasons. First of all, it's very top heavy. The highest value Strike items that send the archetype to the moon are high rarity, stuff like Hunter's Wooden Longbow, Veiled Mask, and so on. Then you have the juggling act Strike forces you in. You're getting your Strike inscription to 4, that's 3 items minimum. Then you're getting crit%, usually via stuff like Misfortune inscription or Thief's Blacksteel Daggers, so that's minimum another item slots. Then you've got to find dense damage%, and make the rest of your item and Dark Ability slots do a LOT of heavy lifting to get you to a point where you've scaled your damage high enough that the critical damage multiplier Strike gives you is actually helping you rise above where a simple raw damage% run would be with those item and inscription slots simply building up your damage. It's a complicated process that, if successful, can give you some of your strongest runs, but it requires a little know how and luck. So, that's today's run! Joined by Monkey, can these two often underrated skulls rise to the occasion?
