The Geekom A8 Max is a tiny yet mighty machine, packing an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor. Alongside it, you get an AMD Radeon 780M GPU and a Neural Processing Unit (NPU), making it a true AI-powered PC. The CPU, GPU, and NPU work together seamlessly, much like a well-coordinated team—except in the world of computing.
Packed with Features
Right out of the box, the A8 Max comes with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a fully licensed version of Windows 11 Pro—no extra fees, no unwanted bloatware. Even better, it's already running Windows 24H2.
Plenty of Connectivity
If ports are what you need, the A8 Max delivers:
Front: Four USB-A (3.2 Gen 2) ports, a headphone jack, a power button, and an SD card slot.
Side: A Kensington lock for security.
Back: Two LAN ports (ideal for NAS setups), two additional USB-A ports, and two USB-C (USB 4.0) ports that can power monitors—eliminating the need for extra power cables. Additionally, there are two HDMI ports for extended display options.
The four rubber feet keep everything stable, but opening the device requires peeling them off—not the most convenient design choice.
Powerful Hardware
Under the hood, the A8 Max features a 2TB Crucial P3 Plus NVMe SSD with read speeds exceeding 5,000 MB/s and write speeds of 4,300 MB/s. The Ryzen 9 8945HS boasts 8 cores, 16 threads, and a boost clock of 5.1 GHz. It also delivers an impressive 89 AI-TOPS, earning it the label of an "AI PC" on Amazon.
For gaming, Full HD is achievable, but running demanding titles like Hogwarts Legacy smoothly might require an external GPU (eGPU) via USB-C.
Memory & Cooling
With 32GB of DDR5 RAM (5600 MHz) as standard, users can upgrade to 64GB if needed. Cooling is handled by the new IceFlow 2.0 system, replacing the older IceBlast system. It offers three modes: Quiet, Normal, and Performance. Keep in mind that Quiet mode slightly reduces performance.
The Downsides
While the A8 Max is an impressive machine, it does have some limitations:
No WiFi 7 support.
Only one NVMe slot, making storage upgrades less convenient.
can get noisy
Despite these drawbacks, the A8 Max remains a strong contender in the mini-PC market. Just don't expect it to run Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra settings.
Pricing & Variants
The A8 Max is priced at €1,049, bundled with a keyboard and mouse. If that’s too steep, there’s an alternative Ryzen 7 8845HS model with a 1TB SSD for €899—or €854 with a 5% discount (code: GKAM5).
