God of Lore - Episode 2: Are You ΩΚ?

Well, that was satisfactory. It's nice to go back to streaming shorter stuff, especially with some of the long games I've had to play this year. I was a bit worried that having to restart the game would've forced me to sink part of a third session into Chains of Olympus, but luckily for me, everything just went as planned. I mean, I made it to the halfway point in the game last time -- even with that setback -- but sometimes, the second half of a game can be longer than the first.
I only really got stuck at one specific part this time around... and frankly, I sort of blame the camera angle for that one. You see, the game introduces breakable walls once you get down to Hades. Most of them are pretty well staged, easy to notice. But there was one that was pretty much invisible, due to the fact that it's so short that it doesn't even look like a proper wall from my perspective. I think that's the only time I actually had to refer to a guide for this playthrough. And even then, it took me awhile to decipher just what it was trying to tell me.
I managed to max out the Blades of Chaos early into this play session, just as KI recommended. That allowed me to be a bit more experimental with the rest of my upgrades. Fortunately, by the end of the game, everything was maxed out anyway. The Gauntlet of Zeus was a pretty interesting secondary weapon... though I still can't figure out why I couldn't break armor with it. Charon's Wrath was a pretty awesome magic attack too, especially once it could do "splash damage".
I'm grateful that the final boss gave me checkpoints at those damned QTEs. I think that's my biggest problem with this game is that those buggers will show up at random. The worst instances is when they show up while you're being forced to pound away at the L and R buttons. Then, when you're not expecting it, a prompt shows up while you're still mashing and BAM! Instant death. Total BS, if you ask me.
Regardless, I don't really remember much about the original God of War, but I think I might've liked Chains of Olympus a little more than it. GoW2's still probably my favorite in the series so far, though. That being said, I'm curious to see how Ghost of Sparta turns out. I'm also hoping that streaming the third and final mainline title in the "Greek Saga" becomes viable for me sooner rather than later. As for Ascension, I'm not sure how I feel about that one. The fact that it's been more or less declared the "worst game in the series" by anyone who's ever played it (and likely a bunch of people who never touched it) does make me curious. As for the post-reboot games, I'm not nearly as interested, even if KI sings their praises.
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do right after these games. KI recommended going straight into the Hallow-streams. But honestly, if I manage to knock out Ghost of Sparta in two sessions, I might try to sneak in one more short game before pivoting towards my more seasonal content. After all, that would lighten my load just a tiny bit before the long march to the end of 2025.
