Going second puts you at a significant disadvantage in a lot of turn based games.
This is most prominent in trading card games like Yugioh, Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, where the player who goes first gets to flood the board with minions and creatures before their opponent, forcing their opponent to be reactive instead of proactive for the entire game.
But these games have game mechanics that are put there to balance out this first turn advantage, but what about games that don't have that?
