In this video i will be completing the very first Gran Turismo on PS1 with a Challenge in place where i cannot buy any cars and i can only spend a maximum of 10K credits which is the initial amount of Money you start with in the game. For these types of Challenge Runs, in Gran Turismo, the game is considered completed or beaten if you sucessfully win the Gran Turismo World Cup which unlocks the game end credits. Since i cannot buy any cars, i can only use cars that i get as prizes like after races or by getting a Gold Trophy on every single license test of a particular category. For the purposes of this video i started the video after i off-screen got all licenses with a Gold Trophy as it takes alot of Trial and Error to do so. As a side Challenge i wont accept any less than a 100% win ratio as well in my run by getting a 1st place finish on every race.
To Beat Gran Turismo you literally only need 2 cars: The Nismo 400R which is a prize for getting all Gold on the IA Licenses and The Chaser LM Edition which is a prize for winning the GT Cup.
The Nismo 400R is used to win the GT Cup and i was actually attempting this challenge before without spending any money but as impressive as the 400R performance is, the competition on the GT Cup is not only faster but lighter than it so all the 10K initial credits is spent on it to give it a realistic chance at winning the GT Cup by improving its Horsepower slightly and buying Racing Tires. After winning the Cup i immediately swap to the Chaser LM Edition to complete the other easier Cups as you can only enter the Gran Turismo World Cup by beating all other Cups first. Since the Chaser LM is Race Car, it already comes pre equipped with Racing Soft Tires and every other upgrade that i can tune before the race including the gear ratios so i tune it for the gears to be very close to eachother. You cant perform the Gearbox Trick in Gran Turismo 1 like you can do later in the series but the way i setup the gear ratios basically functions as the trick itself. Once you are finally able to Enter the GT World Cup you might have to manipulate the opponents you will race against if you want to guarantee you will win every race without much difficulty as very powerful cars like the Castrol Supra might be in the lineup and if it appears in 1st place you will sometimes not be able to catch up to it in just 3 laps especially on High Speed Ring. Luckily i didnt need to abuse this as i got very lucky and got a easy lineup of opponents on the 1st try.
