Green Dog: Trapped surfer dude! is a platform game developed by Interactive Designs for the Sega Genesis Console and published by Sega in September 1992. A year later, a handheld Game Gear port was released.
Plot :
The eponymous protagonist of the story is the player character Greendog, a laid-back, cool surfer and skater with bleached blonde hair. After surfing most of the biggest waves, including the coasts of Australia, California and the Mediterranean, he's always looking for the biggest waves that give him the most thrills, and he doesn't care about anything else in life. He has many gadgets and toys, such as gyroplanes, inline skates, skateboards, and vintage frisbees, which can be very dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands. He didn't say much other than "dude" and "cool".
One day, while surfing in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Grenada, Greendog was thrown off his board by the biggest wave he had ever seen and fell unconscious into the sea. When he woke up on the beach, he seemed to be in an alternate version of our world, or at least some very vivid dream world, with a mysterious and seemingly magical gold pendant around his neck that he couldn't take off. His friend Bambi - a beautiful, plump blonde in a red bikini - found him and explained to the green dog that the pendant was of Aztec origin and had a terrible curse; It is doomed to its wearer to be attacked by animals and wild prehistoric creatures, and worst of all, it prohibits surfing.
The only way for the Green Dog to lift the curse is to travel to the lost Aztec civilization and track down six pieces of sacred Aztec treasure scattered across the Caribbean islands in order to put them back together and finally lift the curse with the Green Dog and pendant. However, no one knows where the pieces of the treasure are.
Gameplay:
The gameplay requires players to survive multiple side-scrolling levels, where they can only shoot enemies with a frisbee to destroy them, or shoot various objects like totem poles for food, reducing the damage meter.
The recreation has a few homages to in advance side-scrolling journey games, including Pitfall! because the man or woman frequently has to swing on vines to develop and a few of the degrees take vicinity in a tropical jungle or in an historic Mesoamerican temple. Many degrees require the participant to apply a skateboard or inline skates to develop. The six degrees cowl the Caribbean islands of Grenada, Mustique, Curaçao, Jamaica, Saba, and in the end St. Vincent. The latter stage is in a volcanic kingdom and is in which the temple and very last piece of treasure are found.
