Hack and Slash Extraction Roguelike With Soulslike Elements | Hordes of Hunger demo
Hello everyone! Here we are with another demo I played during the Steam Next Fest. This Hordes of Hunger, a hack & slash extraction roguelike, from the developers of Blood West (game that I love) that tries to be their approach to he bullet heaven roguelike (vampire survivors-like roguelike)... but it feels closer to a soulslike. You know the idea, you are fighting waves of enemies on an arena, get xp, level up and choose between 3 upgrades; the difference here is that you aim your attacks, you also attack, dash and parry, so it is not your chill/idling type of roguelite. Oh, also, you get swarmed by a lot of enemies right from the start and you are supposed to do objectives.
Graphics and sound are great, and gameplay is honestly really smooth, but there are way too many enemies right from the start so it is hard to enjoy (at least, it was for me). I am trying to do all the cool mechanics the game teaches you, I try to parry, I try to use skills, dash and so on, but I am so constantly surrounded by enemies that just becomes stressful. If there were more invulnerability frames (specially after parry), the game would be way more enjoyable, but right now it feels like every action you do will end up costing you some HP.
Anyways, as I always say, this is just a demo, so the purpose is to gather feedback from players and balance the game.
