Chapter Information: On the streets of City 17, Gordon returns to familiar but ruined locations as the carnage of the Uprising has devastated City 17. Many of the buildings in City 17 have fallen apart with debris and decay littering the streets of the ruined city. Headcrabs and Zombies also roam the city having spread like wildfire with Resistance and Combine forces alike becoming their next victims.
After narrowly fighting off some Combine Soldiers and escaping from Combine Crusher walls that are demolishing large chunks of City 17, Gordon returns to the plaza square he first visited at City 17 a long time ago.
Meeting other Resistance members, Gordon and the Resistance members fight their way through City 17 encountering Civil Protection Officers who deploy Manhacks and Combine Turrets against the Resistance group. However, Gordon and his new allies easily overpower the Civil Protection Forces and venture deeper into the City.
Getting closer to the Citadel, Gordon and his allies encounter Combine Soldiers who are tougher and harder to fight than the Civil Protection Officers but are once again beaten and taken down by Gordon and his Resistance allies.
After reuniting with Alyx and holding off dozens of Combine Soldiers in a large plaza square, Alyx and Gordon end up separated with Gordon forced to head back into the City 17 canal system where he fights through Combine forces and Xenian wildlife.
Eventually arriving in an industrial warehouse, Gordon encounters Combine Elites for the first time and struggles to eliminate them, but is able to take them out and slowly ventures on into City 17.
