Hand Trucks are great tools, but using them the wrong way can led to back injuries.
Two-wheel hand trucks look easy to use, but it's easy to lose the load or injure yourself if you don't operate it or load it the right way.
Use proper lifting techniques while loading. Warm up, stretch and use the large muscles of the leg when lifting.
Always load with the pyramid system in mind. The largest and heaviest items on the bottom and the lighter, smaller items on top.
Make sure the load is secure and will not shift, slip off or fall. You may need to secure it with straps or a rope.
Be cautious; move at the right speed for the load, cart and conditions.
Hand trucks are used in all kinds of workplaces, from retail to warehouse to factory to construction to hospitals. Make sure you use the proper loading and handling procedures to avoid workplace injuries.
This short safety video outlines safe operations procedures for using versatile hand trucks.
