As far as slot 4 weapons go, the railgun deals less damage than the RPG. It's not considerably less, however, and it does have the advantage of being a hitscan weapon. While it does advertise an X-ray scope, the damage is cut to at least one-half if you shoot through a wall, so there's better options. Man, what kind of game is it that you can say that there's better options for shooting through solid walls?
Unlike other games with mines (Duke Nukem 3D, Dark Forces), in Hard Reset they're actually usable because enemies will run towards you pretty much constantly, so you can just run backwards dropping them in your path. Same goes for that electric mortar.
