Hardest Ruigee Rank 1 Boss Battles (Bug Fables)
I recently completed the following challenge:
Use the HARDEST menu code, which strengthens enemies well beyond Hard mode.
Use the RUIGEE menu code, which has a few effects. Namely, it makes rank-ups optional and makes every medal cost 1 MP (except that medals that normally cost 0 still cost 0).
Don't use any other menu codes.
Don't rank up.
The challenge is quite similar to another one I did recently, which was Hardest Morefarm low-experience. See the following video for more information on that challenge:
• Hardest Morefarm Low-Experience Boss ...
I wasn't sure which of the two challenges would be harder, but now that I've finished this one, I think it's easier. Even though you can only equip four medals, you can still breeze through most late-game battles with the following combination:
Life Cast (Leif)
HP Core x 2 (Leif)
We Owe Ya
Leif simply uses Bubble Shield Lite every turn and lets Chompy and the helper (ideally Madeleine) kill the enemy. Although this strategy can also be used in the Hardest Morefarm low-experience challenge, it is more limited there because you don't have Chompy and because there are battles where you must kill the boss before it summons any helpers.
Because this Life Cast strategy trivializes many bosses (e.g. all bounty bosses, Ultimax Tank, Wasp King, Team Maki, Team Slacker), and because some of the others can be beaten with nearly the same strategies I showed in the video of my other challenge, this video only shows two battles: Mother Chomper and Everlasting King.
Mother Chomper (0:00):
I fought this battle fairly early on because I wanted Chompy in my party. I opted for maximum attack power on Vi and simply tried to damage the boss as fast as possible to kill her before she killed me. It took a few tries, but wasn't too hard.
Everlasting King (3:31):
I used the Life Cast setup I described above, but the strategy doesn't work unmodified because the king flies in the air after a few rounds. Once he does, he never returns to the ground on his own, so neither Chompy nor Madeleine can hit him. So, I also used Vi and Kabbu to attack the king. When they died, I used Miracle Shake to revive them and Queen's Dinner to fully restore the team's HP and TP. My reliance on items meant that I could only keep the strategy going for so long. Although the battle was repetitive, it had a climactic finish. I had no items left, Kabbu and Vi were dead, and the king was in the air. Fortunately, his health was very low. I figured that Chompy and Madeleine could finish him off if I hit him with Icefall to knock him down. However, if I also knocked down the key on the left, then it would prevent Chompy and Madeleine from reaching the king. Without a Bubble Shield to protect me, I would die for sure. So, it all came down to using Icefall correctly. If I aimed too far to the left, I would knock down the left-hand key and fail. If I aimed too far to the right, I might miss the king and fail. Ultimately, I landed the attack just right and finished the battle.
