I dealt 730 damage to a single target in one round. I also dealt 18 damage to other targets, bringing the total to 748. A few days ago, I posted a video where I dealt 623:

   • Bug Fables--623 Damage Against Single...

Afterward, I happened to come across the following video:

   • Bug Fables final boss cheese with peb...

It demonstrates a game mechanic I wasn't aware of: If an ally is shocked, then his "future actions" (granted by items such as Hustle Candy and indicated by a yellow bubble) will not be converted to regular actions until he is no longer shocked. This allows you to build up a large number of future actions on a shocked ally. Combining this idea with the strategy used in my 623-damage video, I came up with the strategy seen here. The biggest changes from my previous video are as follows:

I shock Kabbu for 4 rounds using 2 Shock Berries, then feed him 8 Hustle Candies while he's shocked. I then use Hot Drink to restore his status and give him one more future action, for a total of 9. When you heal someone's shock in the middle of a round, his future actions are not converted to regular actions until the next round.
In order to protect Kabbu while he's shocked, I equip Shock Trooper on him, making him invincible. He takes no damage and cannot be given status ailments such as burn.
The Super Peppers and attack-boosting medals are all on Leif instead of Vi. In place of Hurricane Toss, I use Icefall. This deals 1 fewer damage (64 instead of 65), but it allows me to unequip ADBP Enhancer, saving 3 MP.
I use Back Support to protect Leif. For this reason, I unequipped We Owe Ya, so there is no helper to deal additional damage. Also, without a helper to knock the king to the ground, Chompy is unable to poison him.
I kill and revive Vi and Leif twice in order to reset their exhaustion and give them additional actions. I do 3 Frost Relays after each revival. In order to let Kabbu survive both Abombinations and to restore some TP, I use a Queen's Dinner after the first Abombination. After the second one, I use a Poison Cake to poison Leif and restore some TP.

Quite a few items are needed in order to make this strategy work. As a result, I can't carry many Hustle Candies and have to rely heavily on Item Recycler. By my calculations, assuming Item Recycler has a 30% chance of activating each time the equipped ally uses an item (based on a wiki page mentioned in the description of my 623-damage video), I have about a 4.7% chance of getting the necessary number of recycles. There are some other luck factors based on the king's behavior, but with Back Support to help Leif survive, the number of recycles is the deciding factor the vast majority of the time. Thus, 4.7% isn't such a bad probability of success (about 1 in 21), but I was very unlucky and needed well over a hundred attempts to get enough recycles.

I made one mistake: during one of the Frost Relays, I accidentally did the action command correctly, causing me to deal 1 less damage. As I explain in my damage calculation guide, doing the last prompt wrong causes you to deal 1 extra damage in most cases:

So, I could have dealt 731 instead of 730. However, I don't feel like grinding for another few hours just for one more point of damage.

You may be wondering why I didn't destroy the Ancient Tablet with Chompy. The tablet operates on a three-round cycle. Based on when it put a Bubble Shield on the king, I knew that he wouldn't have a Bubble Shield during the damage round. If I had destroyed the tablet, he could have summoned another at any time and made himself invincible. Thus, keeping the tablet around is actually safer, provided that you pay attention to where it is in its cycle.

A possible improvement to this strategy is to replace Back Support with We Owe Ya. This would make it more difficult to survive, but Maki could deal an extra 6 points of damage. He could also knock the king to the ground and allow Chompy to poison him, causing him to take an additional 2 damage. Added together with the 1 point I missed in a Frost Relay, this change would allow for 739 damage to be dealt. Another possibility is to decrease the party's TP. I ended up with quite a bit of extra TP, so it may be possible to unequip a TP Plus and equip something else instead.
