So the Lascannon's been a popular choice vs the Bots for sometime now, but it never really clicked for me until now. The main issue I had with it is lacking the ability of the Autocannon or AMR to immediately pop out from cover and take out enemies, as the continuous fire nature of the Lascannon means you need to be out of cover for sometime, but any shot from the enemy can throw your aim off target.

Slapping a Shield Backpack on makes all the difference though, letting you tank a few hits while you keep the target painted. That little bit of tanking ability really unlocks this weapon, which has the penetration to hit through Strider shields, Hulk eyeplates, Gunship engines and even Strider turrets and its underbelly - another all-purpose anti-Automaton weapon to add to the collection.

Build:

Lascannon takes on anything the bots have to throw at us, and the shield keeps you safe while you keep those targets painted. Staying on-theme, I'm bringing the Orbital Laser as well which can devastate entire bases and take out Factory Striders too. 500kg handles the heavy targets while offering a limited AOE option too.

I'm trading stun nades for the good old Impacts, giving me an anti-Fabricator option as well as some burst AOE for a crowd of Devastators or Striders. If my Lascannon ever needs to cool down (especially on other planets that don't have the extreme cold modifier), switching to the Scythe actually isn't bad - the Scythe actually does similar damage to the Lascannon on unarmoured parts, so you can actually get the most out of its laser accuracy to hit those small weakspots - similar deal with the Dagger. You could also swap the Dagger for a Grenade Pistol and use Stun nades instead for easier Hulk kills...but laser build needs lasers yo.

With the shield giving me decent protection, I'm dropping my usual heavy armours and gone for the medium armour with bonus armour, but the recoil armours can be good as well for keeping the laser beams under control when head hunting.
