Hollow Knight: Silksong
Playthrough | Part 23: A Rite Gone Wrong
Now that I got that all out of the way, time to press on.
First, we get a Snitch Pick in the Blasted Steps. Next, we head for the Whispering Vaults. What for? To get our hands on a Memory Locket. After that we head for Shellwood. We meet with Greyroot. Remember in the previous part? Well got our hands on a Twisted Bud. He wants it for something it turns out, it's all part of something nasty. The final rite as they say, the Rite of Rebirth.
What follows is Hornet having the bud literally put into her body. This means that for much of the game, we're stuck in this strange style. Now you could reach the final boss if you like but if you do this, you get the Twisted Child ending. We're not doing that. Instead, we need to find Yarnaby in Greyroot. Yarnaby is willing to remove the bud from our body but not without a price. So, we take part of the Infestation Operation mission.
We need to head to Sinner's Road. Remember Crull and Benjin. They're willing to give us the Steel Spines for a price. Pay 240 Rosaries and you get it. Then return to Yarnaby and she'll remove the Parasite from your body. With it, you unlock the Crest of the Witch.
The Crest of the Witch allows you to do some sweeps, and its healing ability is more effective when you are near enemies. With each hit, you heal and if used right, you can be able to fully heal yourself. You also have access to two red tools and three blue buffs. Meaning you can come up with some really nutty strategies.
With this in tow, we return to the Whiteward. We find some new rooms, but we also get the Surgeon's Key. What is that for you ask? To unlock an area with a nasty boss. We use that to head down below. It's here we face off against the Unravelled. Start by taking down the minions and after that, the boss itself. It's a big target so if you have the Crest of the Witch, use it. It's also a 3-phase fight so you will need to give it your all. The second phase is where you really got to watch out as it'll launch spears at you. So, you got to be careful.
Once you take it down, you have to then follow a path all the way up. You'll also obtain another silk orb meaning you'll have 2 small spools of silk now.
Part 24 is where we'll be venturing the depths of Deep Docks.
