As you know, I've completed one Neptunia Re;Birth game. Now I'm moving onto the second and this one, hoo boy. This is going to be a very wild journey. Welcome to Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth2 Sisters Generation.
This game is a remake of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, released in 2011-12 for the PlayStation 3. The original version was a reboot of the first game. And like with the original, it was remade in 2014-15 for the PS Vita. The game would be ported onto other platforms like Steam, GOG, Switch and PS4. And if you're wondering, I'm playing it in English, courtesy of Eastasiasoft. Because Nintendo of America cancelled it's Western release because the game “violated content guidelines”. Shoutouts to Eastasiasoft for making this possible.
Since this is a remake of the original PS3 game, this game's story is set in an alternate Gamindustri, known as the Hyper Dimension. It's not the same as the first one, as that is set in the Super Dimension. In this world, Gamindustri consists of landmasses, located in the middle of the ocean. Planeptune is in the West. Lastation in the East. Leanbox resides in an island away from the main continent while Lowee is in the North. The story this time around is that a new menace has infiltrated this world. An organization known as the ASIC (Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime) has emerged with the intent to revive their master. The CFWs (Criminals of the Free World) lead ASIC to take shares from Gamindustri. We see in the prologue that the four CPUs (Purple Heart, Black Heart, Green Heart and White Heart) and CPU Candidate Purple Sister were defeated by CFW Magic in the Gamindustri Graveyard. The five end up getting captured.
Three years would pass. IF and Compa head into the Gamindustri Graveyard in the hopes of rescuing the captured CPUs. Sadly they cross paths with one of the Four Felons, CFW Judge. IF buys time while Compa rescues Purple Sister. Sadly she is weakened. Purple Sister uses the power of the Sharicite to blind Judge. The three escape and return to Planeptune.
We then begin the first chapter Divine Oratorio. Nepgear wakes, meeting with Histoire. Compa and IF follow suit. She explains what happens and blames herself for what happened. But now is no time for moping. It's time for Nepgear to get in gear so she can be strong enough to save her sister and her friends.
You can think of this as basically the tutorial for the game as you learn the basics of combat and everything. One difference is that your party has expanded from 3 to 4. Don't worry, I enabled all the DLC here because I will need any and all advantages. We take our time in Virtua Forest while doing some guild quests. Yep, it's that again. I'm also taking my time with it because I will be working to get all 9 endings. Yes, there are 9 and it's going to be crazy.
