Housing doesn’t make sense and the new housing ward doesn’t make sense to me at all given what players want, fundamentally it’s completely missing the point. People keep talking about housing and citing the housing wards and somehow miss the obvious.
No one wants smalls! When you get to cast one entry of course you’re going to end up with wards with a billion unwanted smalls. It’s like showing up to a 100 person buffet and then being alarmed that having 3 pizzas in a sea of spinach and cabbages that the 3 pizza’s are what everyone goes for.
Like at that point I’d wonder why I wasted gas driving to the place.
To be clear I have no horse in this race, I am extremely happy with my large plots. But fundamentally this is a concern for so many people I speak to.
But voices speaking up for them are saying oh blah blah blah of course free companies couldn’t use all this space. Make all of these plots larges and you would see them gone extremely quickly.
Why are we designing a ward where the majority of houses are, respectfully, trash no one wants? Seriously who runs up to a small house in the middle of a Canadian blizzard where I get pangs of seasonal affective disorder just loading into the ward and goes “huzzah I want this!”
And I am in Canada where we just got a blizzard and a blanket of heavy awful snow I needed to shovel, I’m somewhat of an expert on this subject.
Compare these smalls here to these larges in this super crazy foriegn Land, this other one in sort of kind of Hawaii, this other one in a flooded forest.
Meanwhile you as a person with agency, dreams and the rest want this? This is all you want? Literally at least 95% of people I talk to want a large of their own if they had the ability to get one without problems.
So I see people talk about things like “This shouldn’t all be FC housing” and they totally miss the mark. I guarantee you if every single one of these were larges the massive incredible majority of them would be gone.
Let alone in a setting that wasn’t so grey and saddening.
I realize it’s abrupt but I am going to bring out the most beefy chonky thicc disclaimer in the world saying I love our devs, I love Yoshi P and the work they do is incredibly appreciated. I don’t want that to somehow be twisted here for the love of God I made a damn channel on this game for fun cause I love it and our devs so much.
But one thing I’ve sat on for a long while is how insane the entire concept of this new housing ward is. Yes okay excitement and hype let’s throw our hands up into the air and lose our minds yeehaw we have a new housing ward.
Do I think it’s great? Obviously it is. More is more in this case!
But this isn’t it. This entire thing just isn’t it.
Like I go from Ishgard to my house in The Goblet, which is apparently a trash district and my eyes are suddenly blown away with the colors and vibrancy. It’s like someone removed the greyscale on the video footage.
Not to mention this view! Meanwhile the best view in Ishgard for larges is plot 30 which has this obtuse turtle roof right in the way of the view of the mountains which yeah that’s the one thing about Ishgard that totally did have me sold. And I’m a huge heavensward fan like the biggest heavensward fan. When people came to me asking which Ishgard house I was moving to I was honestly surprised they were surprised. I made the choice to get this private plot, over every single other private plot. I planned weeks in advance for this view when new housing was announced and that was actually when I made this channel.
But my main point here is that why did we make a brand new ward after years of players basically screaming at the top of their lungs for small plots?
