How I See Basics For UV Unwrapping - Examples with Basic 3D Shapes - 2023 - Self-Reference Notes
Hi there internet traveler!
This is a... long video and a... somewhat complicated to digest oof. But I wanted to share, this shows how I understand basic UV Unwrapping methods or techniques with basic 3D model shapes. I also show some extras here and there with notes.
These videos are not really tutorials. I am not a teacher or want to be, sorry. But I have lots of respect for anybody that is a teacher. It doesn't look easy. I am making self-reference notes, and I wanted to share these here because these may possibly help someone out there or may have some potential value to anybody looking into this stuff.
TexTools amazing free blender addon: https://blender-addons.org/textools-addon/
Credits, citing: “The TexTools addon is an extensive set of tools in one addon for working with UV’s and Textures. The popular addon is developed by renderhjs and SavMartin ported it over to Blender 2.8. It has size tools, UV Layout tools, UV selection tools and Texture baking. The list of features is so big that I can only describe it briefly in this article.”

Special thanks to anybody that taught me the basics and about this, worked or shared with me their tips, tricks and knowledge too all the way back since 2007. Also special thanks to people that make resources, tools, software, anything about this. I enjoy 3D so I keep learning more stuff from time to time.
Note: Some information in this video may be outdated in the future or wrong. I am also always open to constructive feedback if you have anything to share. If you are an expert and see that the information, I am sharing is bad, wrong or misleading. Please do not doubt to point that out. I do not want to mislead people or put them in the wrong path. If I did that, it is unintentionally, and I apologize in advance.
The stuff I am doing is mostly stuff I would have love to have around as notes specifically as they are while I was learning this stuff. Stuff I would give my younger self, so he had a less-rocky road. It took me awhile to get to the point in which I am, and I still have a long way to go. It never ends. 3D environment art, 3D prop making and mapping or level design is stuff I enjoy and have been keeping it as a hobby for all these years. I take breaks from time to time. That is also why I wanted to make this self-reference notes. Life happens, so in the future if I have to like stop doing 3D for a while and return someday. I will return to watch this video. I could have it in my PC just stacking dust, but I wanted to share. If this helps someone in the same situation. I am happy. This is stuff that nowadays is honestly not very hard to learn or know about because there are so many resources nowadays. Like… a lot, and really amazing ones, and for free. By the way, I will leave some amazing resources in the comments section. If you can, check them out, they are gold, watch if you are into this stuff.
But it is stuff that again, took me a few years to learn & apply somewhat practical like I am doing here. So, I have a feeling there may be someone else that may need to watch it like how I understood/understand it. One never knows. It took me awhile to figure this stuff out properly. I left notes everywhere, there is also stuff that I do not know that well, so take it with a grain of salt. Overall, I just hope if it is useful & helps somehow :].
If interested, I also have other videos about some of these topics with notes & stuff if you want to check them out. It is usually stuff that took me awhile to learn or I wish I had something like that back then because I feel would have helped me big time to understand it. Especially at the beginning. I am no expert, but I hope they help or may give you pointers for your 3D journey.
So, all in all, cheers! I hope you enjoy. Have a great day!
Super special thanks to family and friends, thanks for all the support. Special thanks to iknosabuk and xiuocelotzin.
