How to Add a Media Source or Music to OBS on PC (Easy Tutorial)
Adding music or other media sources to OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) on your PC is a great way to enhance your streams. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
Gather Your Music:
Start by collecting the music tracks you want to use in your OBS streams.
Consider using copyright-free music to avoid DMCA takedowns. Websites like StreamBeats and Pretzel Rocks offer free, stream-safe music.
Look for full playlists or albums to save time compared to adding individual tracks.
Open OBS Studio:
Launch OBS Studio on your PC.
Add Music Sources:
Click the Mixer button to open the audio mixer panel.
In the Sources section, click the + button and select Media Source.
Give it a name (e.g., “Stream Beats 1”) and choose the first music file.
Adjust audio properties in the mixer (e.g., balance with your microphone, add filters).
Repeat these steps for additional tracks or playlists you want to include1.
Control Music in Your Scenes:
Drag your audio sources into the Scenes panel where you want the music available (e.g., intro, intermission, outro scenes).
Set up hotkey bindings to toggle sources on/off or control volume. This allows you to fade music in and out during your stream.
Layer tracks by enabling overlapping sources in a scene. Lower their volumes for variety.
If you experience delays or lag when enabling a music source, right-click and select Preload to load it ahead of time
