How to Remove the Background Noise on Microphone using OBS PC (Easy Tutorial)
Removing background noise from your microphone in OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) can significantly improve the quality of your audio. Here are some steps you can follow:
Adjust Microphone Volume:
First, ensure that your microphone is properly set up in OBS. Go to OBS settings and navigate to the audio tab.
Use the microphone slider in the OBS audio mixer to adjust your overall microphone volume. Lowering it to around 90% can instantly reduce background noise.
Apply Filters:
Click the gear icon next to the mic/aux track in the audio mixer to open the filter menu.
Add the following filters to reduce background noise:
Noise Suppression: This filter suppresses microphone noise. It will affect your vocals but significantly reduce background noise and keyboard sounds.
Noise Gate: A noise gate disables your microphone audio until it surpasses a specified volume. Adjust the open and close thresholds to ensure the mic activates only when you’re talking.
Fine-Tune Noise Gate Settings:
To correctly set up the noise gate filter, observe the audio mixer. When you talk, the audio bar should light up; when you’re not talking, there should be no audio.
Adjust the open noise gate level (when the mic activates) and keep the close threshold slightly lower than the open level.
