Stream bots allow for moderators to add commands through the chat. The commands will automatically be added to the streamer’s command dashboard, where they can make any necessary adjustments.

The default setting will have the command usable by everyone. This means there is no required chat role to prompt the command response. There also will be no cool down time.

Adding commands as a mod on Twitch requires you to know what bot is being used. There are four primary chatbots that are typically used with live streams. Each bot has its own list of commands that can be used.

Adding a new command to Nightbot can be done using the “!addcom” chat command. The StreamElements and Streamlabs Chatbot use “!command add” for creating commands. Cloudbot uses “!addcommand”.

When adding a command you will need to follow the message with a space, then the command name and prefix. Typically streamers use exclamation marks as the prefix for all commands. The command name needs to be followed by a space and the response you want displayed. The response is how the bot will respond when a viewer uses the command in chat.

Once the message has been sent you should get a response as confirmation of the command being added. It is important to note that only moderators can create commands using the mentioned chatbots. This stops viewers from being able to create spam commands.
