Steps to Change Roku PIN: 0:42
Video Transcript:
Roku makes it almost too easy to make purchases. As a result, if you want to keep your kids, friends, or even other family members from going wild and making purchases without your permission, you'll want to have a PIN set up on your account. However, if someone finds out what your Roku PIN is, you'll want to change it quickly to limit any damage. Thankfully, Roku makes it a simple process to change your Roku PIN. Additionally, you can also follow this process if you don't currently have a PIN and want to add one.
Now let's walk through the steps to change your Roku PIN.
Step 1. Open a web browser, navigate to Roku.com, and then log into your account if you're not logged in already.
Step 2. Click the "Profile" icon in the upper right corner of the screen. The Profile icon is a silhouette of a person. A drop-down menu appears.
Step 3. Click "My Account" in the drop-down menu. The Roku My Account screen appears.
Step 4. Locate the PIN Preference section along the top of the My Account screen, and then click the "Update" button in the PIN Preference section. The Choose Your PIN Preferences screen appears. By default, the selector will be filled in next to your current PIN requirement option, which will either be Always Require a PIN to Make Purchases and to Add Items from the Channel Store, or Always Require a PIN to Make Purchases.
Step 5. Change the PIN requirement option if you need to. Additionally, you can choose the third option, which is to not require a PIN for anything. However, if you choose this option, a PIN will no longer be required and you won't be able to create one. In this example, I'll leave the selector on Always Require a PIN to Make Purchases.
Step 6. Enter your new PIN in both the PIN and Verify PIN fields in the Create PIN section at the top of this screen. Click "Save Changes" after entering your information. You'll return to your Roku My Account screen, where a message appears across the top of this screen notifying you that your PIN preference has been updated.
