To change the boot order on a Windows 10 or 11 laptop, follow these steps:
Method 1: Using BIOS/UEFI Menu
Access BIOS/UEFI:
Turn off your laptop.
Turn it back on and immediately press the BIOS key (commonly F2, Del, F10, or Esc). The key varies by manufacturer.
Navigate to Boot Menu:
Once in the BIOS/UEFI, look for a tab or menu labeled Boot, Boot Options, or Boot Order.
Change Boot Order:
Use the arrow keys to navigate to the boot order settings.
Select the device you want to boot from (e.g., USB, CD/DVD, Hard Drive) and follow the instructions to move it to the top of the list. This might involve pressing +, -, or specific function keys (check the on-screen instructions).
Save and Exit:
After setting the desired boot order, press the key to save changes (usually F10) and then confirm to exit the BIOS.
Method 2: Through Windows Settings (For UEFI)
Open Settings:
Click on the Start menu and select Settings.
Go to Recovery Options:
Navigate to System - Recovery (Windows 11) or Update & Security - Recovery (Windows 10).
Advanced Startup:
Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
Access UEFI Firmware Settings:
After the restart, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced options - UEFI Firmware Settings - Restart.
Change Boot Order in UEFI:
Once in UEFI, follow the steps similar to the BIOS method to change the boot order.
