How to Get Audio on Capture Card using Xbox Series X (Fast Tutorial)
To get audio on a capture card when using an Xbox Series X, follow these steps:
Connect Your Xbox Series X to the Capture Card:
Use an HDMI cable to connect your Xbox Series X to the HDMI input of your capture card. Then, connect another HDMI cable from the HDMI output of the capture card to your monitor or TV.
Set Up Your Capture Card Software:
Ensure you have the software for your capture card installed on your PC (like OBS Studio or the manufacturer's software). Configure the capture card as a video capture device in the software.
Audio Settings on Xbox Series X:
Navigate to Settings - General - Volume & Audio Output on your Xbox Series X.
Under Audio Output, select Stereo uncompressed. This ensures the audio is sent in a format that can be captured.
Enable Audio Output to Both Headset and Speakers:
Go to Settings - General - Volume & Audio Output again, then to Party Chat Output or Game Chat Output, and set it to Headset & Speakers. This allows the audio to be sent to both your headset and the HDMI output (which your capture card will pick up).
Capture Card Audio Settings:
In your capture software, make sure the audio from the capture card is being monitored or captured. For OBS, add your capture card as an audio source from the + button under sources, selecting Video Capture Device for video and then ensuring the audio from that device is active in the Audio Mixer. Here, you might need to select the HDMI audio input if it's an option.
