How to Change Wallpaper on Home Screen for XBOX Series X|S (Best Method)
Personalizing your Xbox Series X|S home screen with a custom background is a great way to make your console feel more like your own. You have a few excellent options, from static images to dynamic backgrounds.
The "best method" depends on where your image is currently stored. Here are the most reliable and convenient methods:
Method 1: Using OneDrive (Best for Convenience & Cloud Access)
This is the most seamless method, as it doesn't require a USB drive. You simply upload your picture to your personal OneDrive account, and your Xbox can access it.
On a computer or phone: Upload the image you want to use as your background to your personal OneDrive account (onedrive.live.com).
Tip: For the sharpest image, use a picture that is 1920x1080 pixels or 3840x2160 pixels (4K). The file should be a JPG or PNG.
On your Xbox Series X|S:
Make sure you have the OneDrive app installed. If not, go to the Microsoft Store and download it.
Open the OneDrive app and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to upload the image.
Find and select the image you uploaded.
Once the image is open, press the Menu button (the three horizontal lines) on your controller.
A context menu will appear. Select "Set as background."
Alternatively, you can go through your console's settings to access your OneDrive photos:
Press the Xbox button to open the Guide.
Go to Profile & system Settings - General - Personalization.
Select "My background" "Custom image".
Navigate to your OneDrive folder, select the image, and confirm.
Method 2: Using a USB Flash Drive (Great for Large Collections)
This is a straightforward method if you prefer to use a physical drive.
On a computer: Copy your desired image (JPG or PNG format) to a USB flash drive.
On your Xbox Series X|S:
Plug the USB drive into one of the USB ports on your console.
Press the Xbox button to open the Guide.
Go to Profile & system Settings General Personalization.
Select "My background" "Custom image".
A dialog box will appear showing the contents of your console and the connected USB drive.
Select the USB drive, find your image, and select it to set it as your background.
Method 3: Using the Microsoft Edge Browser (Quick & Easy)
This method is perfect if you find an image online and want to set it as your background immediately without transferring files.
On your Xbox Series X|S:
Launch the Microsoft Edge browser. You can find it in My games & apps or by searching in the Microsoft Store.
Navigate to the website or image you want to use (e.g., an image search on Bing, a wallpaper site, etc.).
Set the image as background:
Once the image is displayed on your screen, use the cursor to hover over it.
Press the Menu button (the three horizontal lines) on your controller.
A context menu will appear. Select "Set as background."
A notification will appear in the bottom-right of the screen confirming that the background has been set.
