To change your background on Xbox Series X, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Select Profile & system and then Settings.
In the Settings menu, select General and then Personalization.
Scroll down to My background and select the option that you want to explore.

You can choose from different types of backgrounds, such as solid colors, achievement art, custom images, screenshots, and dynamic backgrounds 1.
If you want to use a custom image, you can upload it using the Microsoft Edge app or a USB device. To upload a custom image with a USB device, copy a JPG or PNG file that you want to use to a USB device, and then plug it into your Xbox. Make sure that the USB device is not formatted to be an external device for games storage. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide. Select Profile & system, then Settings, then General, then Personalization, and then My background. A dialog box appears that shows the contents of your console and the connected USB device. Select the USB device, and then choose your image. Custom images must be smaller than 3 MB, and the best size for backgrounds is 1920 x 1080
