Thus, let's go ahead and learn exactly how to change your Minecraft version.
First things first, you need to make sure that you have Minecraft downloaded. You can find the Minecraft Launcher download link in the description above. You will have to buy Minecraft Java Edition if you don't have it purchased already. Once you download Minecraft, it installs just like any other program. Once it's done, it will open up the Minecraft Launcher. This is where we can change our version.
When you're in the Minecraft launcher, you can change to the most recent version of Minecraft by clicking the little arrow to the right of the 'Play' button. This will show you what versions you have set up in Minecraft currently. Most likely, you just have the latest version of Minecraft, and if you've installed some mods, modded profiles.
If you want to add your own version to Minecraft, click on the 'Installations' tab in the top of the Minecraft launcher. Then, click the '+' button. This will open up a pop-up where you can name the version, and you will have a drop-down box under where is say's 'Version'. If you click this, it will open the drop-down box. Here you will see all of the Minecraft versions ever released. From Minecraft alpha to the newest version 1.14.4, it is all here on this list. Just select the version you want. Any version will work.
Once you have your version selected, click the green 'create' button. This will then create your version accessible in the Minecraft launcher. Just hover over the version on the installations tab, and click the green 'Play' button on the right hand side of the screen. At this point, you have now officially changed your Minecraft version, and you are playing on whatever version you want.
