How to Change your Resolution & FPS using OBS on PC (Base Canvas or Output)
Adjusting your resolution and frame rate in OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) can significantly impact the quality of your content. Let’s dive into the steps:
Open OBS Studio: If you haven’t already, download and install OBS Studio on your PC.
Access Settings: Launch OBS Studio and click on the Settings button (usually located in the bottom right corner).
Navigate to Video Settings:
Once in the settings menu, select the Video tab.
Here, you’ll find options related to resolution and frame rate.
Base (Canvas) Resolution:
Set the Base (Canvas) Resolution to match your monitor’s native resolution. You can find this information in your display settings.
This setting determines the resolution of your OBS canvas.
Output (Scaled) Resolution:
Choose the resolution you want your viewers to see. Common options include:
1920x1080 (Full HD) or
1280x720 (HD).
Ensure that the aspect ratio remains 16:9 for optimal viewing.
FPS (Frames Per Second):
FPS refers to the rate at which consecutive frames are displayed in your videos.
Higher FPS results in smoother playback, especially for fast-moving content.
Adjust the Common FPS Values drop-down menu to your desired frame rate:
30 FPS for streaming at 1080p or
60 FPS for streaming at 720p
