About this video: Adding a world border is a great way to add a challenge to Minecraft or even just keep players on a server inside a set, pregenerated area. This is great as it can reduce lag and make a server experience much better. Luckily, you have found our complete guide on how to set a world border in Minecraft.
This includes everything from how to make a world border but also other world border commands like changing the size of a world border, getting the current size of an existing world board.
First off though, how do you set a world border in Minecraft? Well, you can use to the /worldborder center X Y command to set the center point of the world border. Then, you will use /worldborder set DISTANCE to set the world border. If you want to expand the world border of a period of time, you can add a time in seconds to the end of the world board set command, and the world border will slowly expand over that time period.
You can also add to an existing world border using the /worldborder add DISTANCE command. A time can also be added to the end of this command.
To decrease the size of a world border, you will use the set command that was mentioned early just with a smaller distance than the current distance of the world border.
How do you find the current distance of a world border in Minecraft though? Well, the /worldborder get command is perfect for that. That will display in chat the current world border distance and other information about the world border.
There are also worldborder warning and worldborder damage commands that you can set, and those are outlined in-depth in an article that you can find in the description above.
It is worth noting that in order to set a world border on a Minecraft server, you will need to be OP’d. Just do “op USERNAME” in the server console. You will also need to cheats enabled in a singleplayer world for the world border commands to work. This can be done by opening your world to LAN and checking “Cheats Enabled”.
From there, you can use the world border commands outlined above.
