This short video demonstrates how to completely erase an iPhone, including all personal data, apps, pictures, and other content that is stored on the iPhone. The result is an iPhone that is cleared of everything, ready to be set up as new.
The steps to erase an iPhone are as follows:
- Open the 'Settings' app
- Go to "General"
- Go to Reset
- Choose to "Reset All Content & Settings"
- Confirm twice to "Erase iPhone" *
* Note that you may need to enter the device passcode and/or associated Apple ID at this point to begin the erase process
It can take a few minutes to complete the erasing process and data removal. For the example shown in this video, a 64GB iPhone Plus model takes about four minutes to finalize the reset and erase the device. When the process has finished, the iPhone is ready to be set up as new, effectively being reset to how it arrives from the factory.
