How to fix 'A cable has been unplugged' error message after newly installing Rocksmith PC

If you've newly installed Rocksmith on PC and upon launching the game, you receive this error message 'A cable has been unplugged. Please make sure your Rocksmith Real Tone Cable is properly connected' and this, despite having your Rocksmith Real Tone cable properly connected, then leave the cable connected and simply reboot (restart) the PC. The drivers that automatically install with the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable only take full effect once your PC has been rebooted.
