How to Fix Corrupted Data & Games on PS5 Pro (Easy Tutorial)
Fixing corrupted data or games on the PS5 Pro involves identifying and repairing files causing issues. Corruption can result from incomplete downloads, sudden power loss, or software glitches. Here's how to address it:
1. Restart Your PS5 Pro
Restart your console to see if the issue resolves itself. This simple step can sometimes fix minor corruption problems.
2. Check for Corrupted Data
Go to Settings - Storage - Console Storage - Games and Apps.
Look for any games or apps with an exclamation mark or error message indicating corruption.
Delete the problematic game or app:
Highlight the corrupted file, press Options, and select Delete.
3. Redownload or Reinstall the Game
For digital games:
Go to Library - Your Collection, find the game, and redownload it.
For disc-based games:
Eject the disc, clean it gently, and reinstall the game after inserting it again.
4. Rebuild the Database
Rebuilding the database can fix issues with file corruption.
Enter Safe Mode:
Turn off the PS5 Pro completely.
Press and hold the Power Button until you hear the second beep (about 7 seconds).
Connect your controller via USB and press the PS Button.
Select "Clear Cache and Rebuild Database":
In the Safe Mode menu, choose Option 5: Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
Wait for the Process:
The console will restart once the process is complete.
5. Update System Software
Go to Settings - System - System Software - System Software Update and Settings.
Update the console to ensure you're running the latest firmware, which often includes fixes for corruption issues.
6. Check Storage Space
Corruption can occur if your SSD is nearly full.
Free up space:
Go to Settings - Storage and delete unused games, apps, or media.
7. Reset Game Licenses
Go to Settings - Users and Accounts - Other - Restore Licenses.
Select Restore.
This fixes issues with digital game ownership that can cause corruption errors.
8. Reset PS5 Pro (Keep Data)
This step reinstalls the system software while preserving games and saved data.
Enter Safe Mode.
Select Option 6: Reset PS5 (Keep Data).
Follow the prompts to reinstall the software.
9. Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If the corruption persists, consider a full factory reset. Back up your data first, as this process erases everything.
Enter Safe Mode.
Select Option 7: Reset PS5 (Reinstall System Software).
Use a USB drive with the latest system software to complete the process.
