How to Fix No Sound Through Headset on Xbox Series X|S (Easy Method)
Fix No Sound Through Headset on Xbox Series X/S
Check Headset Connection:
Wired: Unplug and replug into controller’s 3.5mm jack. Ensure it’s secure. Clean jack with dry cloth.
Wireless: Re-pair headset (follow manufacturer’s instructions). Check battery level.
Test with another headset to rule out hardware issues.
Adjust Audio Settings:
Press Xbox button, go to System, Audio.
Set Headset Volume to 75-100%.
Ensure Headset Chat Mixer isn’t fully shifted to game or chat.
Set Headset Format to Stereo or Windows Sonic (avoid Dolby Atmos if unlicensed).
Set Audio Output:
Go to Settings, General, Volume & Audio Output.
Under Speaker Audio, select Headset for HDMI or Optical Audio if used.
Confirm Party Chat Output is set to Headset.
Update Controller Firmware:
Settings, Devices & Connections, Accessories, select controller, three-dot menu, Update Now.
Update Console:
Settings, System, Updates, install any available updates.
Check Game/Party Settings:
In-game, ensure voice chat is enabled and volume isn’t muted.
In Party, verify you’re not muted (check mic icon in Party Overlay).
Power Cycle Console:
Hold console power button 10s, unplug 2-3 min, reconnect, restart.
Test Audio Source:
Play a game or app (e.g., YouTube). If no sound, check if TV/speakers are outputting audio instead.
