How to Fix your Speaker Audio Not Working on Windows 11 or 10 PC
If your speaker audio is not working on Windows 11 or 10, try these fixes:
1. Check the Basics
Ensure volume is not muted – Click the speaker icon and increase the volume.
Try a different output device – Right-click the speaker icon - Sound settings - Choose a different Output device.
Restart your PC – A simple reboot can fix many sound issues.
Check cables and connections – Ensure speakers are properly plugged in and powered on.
2. Run the Audio Troubleshooter
Press Win + I to open Settings.
Go to System -Troubleshoot -Other troubleshooters.
Click Run next to Playing Audio.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
3. Set Speakers as Default
Press Win + R, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter.
In the Playback tab, right-click your speakers and select Set as Default Device.
Click Apply, then OK.
4. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
Right-click your audio device and select Update driver - Search automatically.
If the issue persists, right-click the device again and select Uninstall device, then restart your PC.
5. Restart the Audio Service
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Scroll down and find Windows Audio.
Right-click it and select Restart.
