How to Invite More Family Members to Game Share on STEAM Account (Best Method)
1In late 2023, Steam introduced "Steam Families," a new feature that replaced the old "Family Sharing" and "Family View" systems. The new system makes it much easier to share your game library and includes new features like parental controls.
The best method to invite more family members to your Steam Family is directly through your Steam client or a web browser.
Important Note on Family Sharing Limits
A Steam Family can have a maximum of 6 members. This includes both adults and children.
All members of a Steam Family must be from the same country.
If a member leaves or is removed from a family, they have a one-year cooldown before they can join another family. They can, however, rejoin the same family immediately.
Step-by-Step Guide to Inviting Family Members
Log in to Your Steam Account:
Open the Steam client on your computer or go to the Steam website.
Log in to the account you want to use to create or manage the family.
Access Steam Family Management:
In the Steam client, click Steam in the top-left corner, then select Settings.
In the Settings menu, go to the Family tab.
If you haven't already, you'll see an option to Create a Steam Family. Follow the prompts to name your family and create it.
Invite a New Member:
Once you have created or are part of a Steam Family, click "Manage your Steam Family."
On the management page, you will see a list of current members. Click the "Invite a Member" button.
Select a Friend to Invite:
A list of your Steam friends will appear. You can select any of your friends to invite to your family.
It's important to note that the person you're inviting must also be from the same country as you.
Assign a Role (Adult or Child):
You will be prompted to choose a role for the new member:
Adult: Adult members can invite other members, apply parental controls, and access the family library without restrictions.
Child: Child members are subject to parental controls. You can set playtime limits, restrict access to certain games, and control which Steam features they can use.
The Invited Member Must Accept:
The invited family member will receive an alert on Steam that they've been invited to join your family.
They must accept the invitation for the process to be complete. This can be done through the Steam client or the mobile app.
