About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make a Minecraft server in 1.19.1. Why would you want to create a Minecraft 1.19.1 server? Well, when you make your own server, you are given full control over what happens on that server. That includes adding mods, plugins, and other customizations to your server.
The first part of making a Minecraft server in 1.19.1 is downloading the Minecraft server files. You can find a link to the server download in the description above. This will actually take you to our written tutorial for making a 1.19.1 Minecraft server. On this page, scroll down and click the green ‘Download Minecraft’ button. This will take you to Minecraft’s official website, where you want to click the ‘minecraft_server_1.19.1.jar’ link. When you do, the 1.19.1 server files will begin downloading.
Next, create a folder on your desktop called ‘Minecraft 1.19.1 Server’. Drag and drop the server.jar file you downloaded into this folder. Then, double click on the server.jar. You should then see some files generate, including an eula.txt file.
If you don’t have an eula.txt file, you will need to download and install Java 17 from the link in the description above as well as run the Jarfix linked above.
Next, open up the eula.txt with notepad and change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’. Save the eula.txt file, and double click on the server.jar file again. Your Minecraft 1.19.1 server will start up. You now know how to make a Minecraft server in 1.19.1.
To join your Minecraft server, simply open Minecraft 1.19.1 and use ‘localhost’ as your IP address. You are the only person who can join your server this way, but it is a great way to test and make sure your Minecraft server is working.
You must port forward your server to play Minecraft 1.19.1 with your friends. We cover this in-depth in the video. However, the short version is that you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Once you do, you need to get your public IP address from the link in the description above.
Your public IP address is what you will give your friends to join your Minecraft 1.19.1 server.
