π Want to control or customize the notifications you receive from apps on your Windows 11 device? Follow these steps to manage your app notifications, so you only get the alerts that matter to you:
Steps to Manage App Notifications on Windows 11:
1. Open Settings:
Click on the Start menu (Windows icon) in the taskbar, then select Settings. Alternatively, you can press Windows + I to quickly open Settings.
2. Go to Notifications Settings:
In the Settings window, click on System in the left-hand menu.
Then, select Notifications from the options on the right.
3. Turn Notifications On or Off:
Enable or Disable Notifications
At the top of the Notifications page, you will see a toggle labeled Notifications. You can turn this off entirely to stop all notifications from apps or turn it on if you want to receive alerts.
4. Manage Notifications from Specific Apps:
Customize App Notifications
Scroll down to the Notifications from apps and other senders section. Here, you will see a list of apps that can send notifications.
Turn Off Notifications for an App: Toggle the switch next to an app to turn off its notifications.
Customize Notification Style: Click on the app name to manage more settings, such as notification banners, sounds, and whether to show notifications in the lock screen.
5. Advanced Notification Settings:
Allow or Block Notifications
You can also choose whether to allow apps to show notifications in the Action Center or whether they should make a sound when you receive a notification.
Show in Action Center: Toggle this option on or off depending on whether you want the app's notifications to show up in the Action Center.
Show Notification Banners: Turn this on if you want the notifications to pop up as banners at the top-right of the screen.
Play a Sound: You can turn on or off sound alerts for the appβs notifications.
6. Focus Assist and App Notifications:
Use Focus Assist to Limit Distractions
If you don't want to receive notifications while working or during specific times, you can enable Focus Assist (Do Not Disturb mode).
Open the Quick Settings (Windows + A) and click on Focus Assist to choose from Priority Only or Alarms Only.
7. Set Up Quiet Hours for Apps:
Automatic Rules for Notifications
Under Settings β System β Focus Assist, you can set up automatic rules that control when notifications will be muted (e.g., during certain hours or while gaming). This helps avoid distractions from apps during critical times.
Tips:
App-Specific Settings: Some apps allow you to control notification preferences directly from within their settings, so check inside each app for additional options.
Use Quiet Hours: Turn on Focus Assist during meetings or sleep hours to prevent interruptions from notifications.
Review App Permissions: If youβre receiving too many notifications, review the permissions for each app and adjust accordingly.
