Hey everyone. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'll show you how to mute a website in Google Chrome. This video will focus on how to do this in the desktop version of the Google Chrome web browser.
Nothing can be more embarrassing than the unexpected audio of an ad blaring through your computer speaker's at an inopportune time. Thankfully, Google makes it possible to mute audio by default on specific websites. The only catch is that when you do want to hear audio from that website, you'll need to unmute the specific video or audio file you want to hear to listen to it.
Now let's walk through the steps to mute a site in the desktop version of the Google Chrome web browser.
Step 1. Open your Google Chrome web browser and navigate to the website you want to mute the sound for automatically. In this example, I'll navigate to Yahoo.com.
Step 2. Right-click the tab associated with that website at the top of the screen to open a context menu, and then click "Mute Site" in the menu. All websites you access associated with that domain will be muted when you open them in Google Chrome going forward, and you'll need to un-mute any videos on that site that you want to play. If you change your mind and you want sound to play on all websites associated with a domain you muted automatically, you can do so at any time by navigating back to the website, right-clicking the tab, and then clicking "Unmute Site."
