Disney Plus may be the new streaming service on the block, but it's got at least one massive advantage over Netflix, which is that you can disable background video from playing on the menu screen. However, you can't turn off background video universally across all of the profiles associated with your account, and you'll need to disable it for each profile. Additionally, you can only turn off Disney Plus background on platforms that support it, such as Xbox One, PS4, and Roku. You can't disable background video through the Disney Plus app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
Now let's walk through the steps to turn off background video in your Disney Plus menu.
Step 1. Launch Disney Plus on your preferred platform, and enter your account information if prompted. You'll land on your Disney Plus home screen.
Step 2. Tap or click your profile icon on the home screen. On some platforms, such as Roku or Xbox, you'll need to navigate to the far left side of the screen to open a menu where your profile icon is displayed. A menu appears.
Step 3. Click "Edit Profiles." The Edit Profiles screen appears.
Step 4. Click the Disney Plus profile where you want to turn off background video on the menu. The Edit Profile screen appears for that specific profile.
Step 5. Locate Background Video in the menu. If you don't see Background Video in the menu, then the platform you're currently using Disney Plus on doesn't support background video, and you'll need to repeat this process in the Disney Plus app on a platform that does support background video, such as Roku, Windows, Xbox or PS4. Click the toggle associated with Background Video to turn it off. Background video will be disabled for this Disney Plus profile across all platforms.
