How to Remove Messenger Account from Device
2Removing a Messenger account from your device can be necessary for various reasons, such as switching accounts, troubleshooting issues, or simply wanting to sign out. Since the Messenger app doesn't offer a direct "log out" button, you’ll need to use a few workarounds to remove the account completely from your phone.
If you have multiple Messenger accounts added to the app, the first step is to open Messenger and tap Switch Profile. You'll see a list of accounts currently active in the app. You can swipe left on any account that isn't currently active and tap the trash icon to remove it from your device. This only works for inactive accounts, not the one you're currently signed into.
To remove the last remaining account, which is your active Messenger login, you'll need to dig a bit deeper into your settings. First, open Messenger and tap on the menu icon, then go to Settings. Scroll down and select See More in Account Center. From there, go to Password and Security, then tap Where You're Logged In.
This screen shows all the devices your Facebook and Messenger accounts are currently active on. Tap Select Devices, choose Select All, and then tap Log Out. This will log your Messenger account out from all devices, including the one you're using.
If you're on Android, another method is to reset the app completely. Long-press the Messenger icon, tap the i icon to open App Info, go to Storage, and tap both Clear Cache and Clear Data. This will remove all login information and effectively sign you out. On iPhone, you would need to uninstall and reinstall the app to achieve the same effect.
