How to Change Phone Number in Apple ID
Changing the phone number associated with your Apple ID is a straightforward process that helps keep your account secure and ensures you can receive important verification codes for two-factor authentication. This is especially useful if you’ve changed your phone number or want to add an alternate contact number.
To begin, open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on your Apple ID profile at the top of the screen. From the Apple ID menu, tap on Sign-In & Security. This section contains all your key login and recovery options.
Next, tap Add Email or Phone Number, then choose Add a Phone Number. Enter the new mobile number you want to associate with your Apple ID and tap Continue. Apple will send a verification code (OTP) to the number you entered. Once you receive the code via text, enter it on your iPhone to complete the verification process.
If you’re replacing an old number, you can return to the Sign-In & Security section after adding the new one and tap on the old number to remove it. This ensures your Apple ID remains up to date and prevents any confusion with outdated contact information.
The updated number will now be used for account recovery, Apple ID sign-in prompts, and services like FaceTime and iMessage where your number is linked.
