How To Unread Message On Instagram - Easy Solution | HTG
Marking a message as unread on Instagram isn't available to all users by default, especially if you're using a private or personal account. However, by switching to a professional account—either as a creator or business—you can unlock the "Mark as Unread" feature, which can be useful for managing your messages more efficiently.
To begin, open the Instagram app and go to your profile. Tap the three-line menu icon in the top right corner, then scroll down and select *Account Type and Tools**. From here, tap **Switch to Professional Account**. You’ll be given the option to choose between a **Creator* or *Business* account. Either choice will work, so pick the one that best fits your needs.
Once you've completed the switch to a professional account, refresh your Instagram app. This can be done by swiping down on your main feed or force closing and reopening the app. Then, go to your direct messages.
Now, when you long-press on any conversation in your inbox, you should see a new option labeled **Mark as Unread**. Tapping this will visually mark the message thread as unread, helping you remember to respond later. Do note, however, that this does not actually change the "seen" status for the sender—it only updates your personal view within the app.
This feature is especially helpful for creators and businesses managing large volumes of DMs, allowing them to organize conversations more effectively.
